INSPIRATION Art Moves Us, Artists Inspire Us
June 6 - August 9, 2026Museum of Encaustic Art
18 Country Road, 55A, Cerrillos, New Mexico |
Inspiration: “A powerful mental or emotional stimulation that ‘breathes life’ into ideas, or creativity, making you feel excited, motivated, and compelled to do or create something new, better, or more positive, often from an internal spark or external influence like nature, art, or people. It’s about feeling energized and connected, prompting you to act, improve, or express yourself authentically." Every artist feels inspired and learns to use it as a powerful source of motivation. In a world full of distractions, we hope each of you discovers a creative expression that inspires you to create new artwork for this exhibition.
A Stillness in LayersOctober, 2026Artworks Gallery
210 North Main St., Kokomo, IN Reception: October 2nd, 5:30 pm; a Kokomo 1st Friday event |
In October 2026, Carrie Baxter will be featured as the month’s guest artist at Artworks Gallery in Kokomo, Indiana, a community-centered space operated by the Kokomo Art Association. Known for hosting rotating guest artists and local exhibitions, the gallery will showcase a selection of Carrie’s original encaustic paintings alongside reproduction prints, all available for purchase. This exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to experience the luminous depth and texture of encaustic work while supporting both a regional artist and the vibrant arts community of Kokomo.
"This body of encaustic work explores the horizon as both a visual and atmospheric phenomenon. Built through layered applications of wax and pigment, the surfaces carry subtle shifts of light, temperature, and depth. The resulting compositions evoke a sense of suspended time—where the landscape is reduced to bands of color and space, and stillness emerges through accumulation." -Carrie Baxter
